Following seeing photos and hearing such great reviews of a friend’s wedding last month, I have been so excited to blog about the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. I’m a NYC girl at heart but the views of the Philly buy prom dresses skyline at night are absolutely breathtaking. Wedding guests are allowed to explore the nearly 200,000 square feet of sharks, hippopotamuses, free-flying birds and sea life from around the world.
The Currents Ballroom is the premiere event space at Adventure Aquarium that can accommodate an event of 300 or an intimate party of 20. Guests are kept in anticipation while curtains mask the spectacular sea-life until the bride and groom are introduced. You’ll be sure to get a lot of ?”ooooo’s” and “ahhhh’s” when the curtains come down! From there, guests can enjoy appetizing signature selections that are perfect for either cocktail receptions, tapas-style dining or elegant seated affairs (the fish won’t mind if you order seafood! I think?). Brides and Grooms can really have fun with this ocean/sea themed wedding by coming up with unique favors, colors and cocktails (Shark Bite Martini anyone?). What’s wonderful is that the aquarium has great lighting and provides most of the decor, so for brides and grooms who don’t want to fuss over those details, this venue is a fantastic cheap prom dresses and unique alternative. Inside the last two weeks, I have had five different folks mention The Madison Hotel in Morristown, New Jersey. Thinking about how several fabulous venues there are in New Jersey, it’s always nice to come across a location that garners this type of consistent and positive feedback! Thus, I felt it my duty to share this well kept secret. The Madison Hotel’s Conservatory is a breathtaking space that evokes the feeling of a spectacular greenhouse. This is a florists dream as you’ll find so many beautiful things that can be done to compliment this space while infusing the personality and tastes of the bride and groom. While I personally have yet to sample the menu, I hear the food is just as amazing as the setting.
Situated upon an 8 acre expanse, the Hotel boasts a classic cheapest prom dresses Georgian architecture that cannot help but exude elegance. In addition to the Conservatory, The Madison Hotel also offers their Grand Ballroom event space, which features antique Baccarat chandeliers and 14 foot high ceilings. This past Sunday, Constantly a Bridesmaid hosted a brand new York Fantasy Shower with Morgans’ Hotel in their AMAZING Penthouse. We wanted to host the event so that brides like you could have an afternoon to hang with the ladies in your wedding party, AND get some great ideas on how to make a bridal shower a little bit sleeker and just a wee bit cheapest prom dresses sexier! For starters, we picked a great theme: Naughty and Nice.? Inspired by Agent Provocateur (who provided the gift bags)
We used a pink and black color scheme and ran with it.? To add to the decor, we wrapped “gifts” in the colors of the event- (hint, when hosting a shower, this is a great way to dress up the room!).? We had an awesome location…. the weather was amazing and the views were out of this world.? The Morgans’ provided lite bites via Asia de Cuba and Mark Joseph Cakes designed a cake around our theme that set the stage.? Elana and Julie of Melangerie did an OUTRAGEOUS job of creating a guestbook , favors and signage to make the whole thing seem a little more special.? For favors, they offered up a simple black scarf, but created these great display cards where it was either a “naughty” blindfold, or a very “nice” necktie.? The guestbook were little fortunes for what you’d like the bride and groom to do “in bed”.? Rather than use a paper plate hat, Anika from our team bought a cheapo Target sunhat and be-ribboned it (another simple upgrade). We wanted to offer up some great activities/ ideas for activities, so we asked the Ladies from My Hair and Make Up to come and give make up lessons….. it’s a really fun way to do china prom dresses something a little different for a shower and they will come to your home to give a class.? We also asked Jessy of Fleurs to come and give floral lessons… she taught some great DIY lessons for bouquet making and more to the ladies in attendance (as well as providing the gorgeous blooms).? I was amazed to see how many great ladies came out on this gorgeous day to enjoy the party!? So, last night I decided to push my fitness limits just a little bit and took my extremely first ever Pole Dancing Class! We had been contacted by Smart Workout to give their gym a try since they offer a quite special Wedding Workout package. The premise of the gym is a cool one- all classes are semi-privates, 4 or 5 people at most, and the set up feels like prom dresses clearance you are working out at someone’s really nice home gym. Mayra signed me up for Pilates, since if you read this blog, you know I’m addicted.
After Pilates she joined me for our turn around the pole. Where do I begin except to start by saying that I have a new found respect for Pole Dancers. We learned a routine and did some cool pole tricks, and they equipped the scene with what I can only imagine was their “stripper mix”- it involved a lot of version of “fever”, various Pussy Cat Doll songs and, surprisingly, Evanescence?? Anyway, the biggest challenge, frankly, was not the moves, but looking sexy. Neither of us succeeded. I imagined how different the “Bada Bing” would have seemed if the girls all looked like they were about to giggle or had intense looks of concentration on their faces. Kim, our instructor, was an excellent sport amidst all of our wisecracks! So, overall, POLE DANCING- AWESOME workout!
I can’t lift my arms today and my abs are KILLING me. AND they buy prom dresses do private parties for up to 10 girls (2 hours on the pole!) Not only is the Smart Workout a great deal for brides to be, but you can learn a few sexy moves for your special someone while you’re at it. Next week I go back for Cheerleading class!

This past weekend I was in Essex CT with my Aunt Linda. ?The town was quainter than quaint and we let my Uncle off the hook from our shopping excursion by means of adorable stores. ?This was a great thing because I identified and fell in really like with an array of goods from Juliska. ?Some of these things Ought to make your way to your registry. ?Initially, we fell in love buy prom dresses with this adorable ceramic piggy that’s accessible in an array of ?glazes such as yellow, green, pink and blue. ? At only $45 it’s the perfect thing to gift to people for a new baby. After I noticed the piggy, we went crazy over these GORGEOUS pitchers.
They are all handblown in the Czech Republic and are insanely delicate and yet dishwasher safe. They have gorgeous stemware as well. My favorite detail about this pitcher is that the mouth forms the shape of a heart… but in a totally, uncheesy way! If you really like the blown glass, you will love these domed dessert dishes. I think they are a Should have for any registry since, honestly, when would you buy yourself a domed dessert stand? Finally, I just loved their ceramic dinnerware. The patterns are definitely leaning towards the shabby chic and are much more for everyday than fine dining, but they are so lovely and INSANELY well made AND, again, you have a lot of options with the glazes. They are all made in Portugal. Anyway, it’s not that often that I’m really impressed by quality and price and design of household items, but these really did impress me. I encourage you to check them out- especially some of their hostess pieces, as I think they could round out a registry of some more basic items.
Earlier this week I blogged about my new love…Polyvore.com. I think I could spend an entire day on this site. Honestly. Now that’s saying something cheap prom dresses because I have a really short attention span for things like that. Today I started to try to find ways to use the site and decided to use it to create an inspiration board for our 57 Grand Bridesmaid Dress Give-away. It was so quick and easy!? I decided that I would turn my favorite dress (from the Riverside collection) into a cheapest prom dresses work dress. Since I need to try to blend into the background on wedding days, I kept the shoes and dress basic and classy, but I tried to add some spice to my life with the accessories.?I am now obsessed with that watch! The Q:” My mom is old school about weddings – she and my dad had a cake and punch reception in their Iowa church basement. So when I told her that a rather modest budget for a New York wedding was 20k-30k, she just didn’t get it. Between what my fiance and I and our parents can contribute, we think we can swing a 25k budget without too much trouble, but my cheapest prom dresses mom is morally opposed to spending that much on “a big party.” But at the same time, she says we *must* invite all the relatives that it shouldn’t be “tacky.” Um… Many thanks for any advice you can offer.” -Anna in Manhattan The A: Anna, you’re not alone.
A lot of our clients have this dilemma- even when the couple are paying for the wedding themselves. It’s like a form of culture shock – they just don’t understand. Think of it as a revist of your first NYC apartment rental- “You’re paying how much for THIS???” I have two tactics to take with this. My first is called the “Special Visit”. If mom wants to help plan, china prom dresses have her come out and arrange a bunch of vendor meetings- some site visits, a photographer visit, maybe your DJ or caterer if that’s an issue. Talk really openly about pricing, because I think the purpose of this visit is to let your family know that you are not trying to be the Melania Trump of 2007. I’ve seen this visit change many a mind for our clients. It’s one thing to be far away and hear prices, but it’s another to see what you are paying for and that it’s just not nearly as extravagent as the price tags sound. Suddenly, it’s not as important to have all of the aunties you’ve ever known, or perhaps you can have a home town style reception here in New York: I personally would love to see it become totally acceptable to have large scale dessert receptions at weddings here. Unfortunately the expectation of a full sit down dinner seems to have become the norm, but it needn’t be so.
An elegant pastry station, with wedding cake and champagne can be done in a gorgeous way and it can be followed by or precede an intimate, elegant family meal at an amazing restaurant. My other suggestion is to plan two parties. One that is smaller and more intimate here- a large scale dinner party for your immediate families and closest friends in New York and then a more casual, old school style punch and cake reception for your larger family back home. They actually might really appreciate the fact that they don’t need to travel. You could do this vice versa as well: home first and then something smaller here- but the key is that you don’t prom dresses clearance go crazy in either place. Like with most things in New York, there is a certain amount of compromise to having a wedding here- and extravagance and size might be your area of compromise. Sometimes, what we find is a parent who wants to cover the cost for a wedding for their child, but whose contribution won’t be quite enough for a NYC wedding. For a lot of our clients they may opt to fill that gap themselves, and while this is a little less ethical, they don’t necessarily let their family know. This is called the “don’t talk about price” game- which can be equally stressful….

Several weeks ago I wet with Elana and Julie, the ladies from Melangerie NYC, a distinctive custom style and gift organization here in New York. The two females, who met while in graduated school at Parsons, developed a firm that not merely makes custom invites, stationary suites and accessories to make your event special, but also these amazing little “melangeries”- or prom dresses clearance really souped up gift baskets. Essentially, they celebrate celebrating with bespoke gifts, items and detail work that so many brides out there are looking for to make their day feel more “them”.

They do so much I can’t possibly showcase it all here, but I wanted to show off my favorite piece. I was MOST smitten by this amazing invite, which I had to share with everyone! It’s for a wedding taking place this summer in a Restored Casino in Providence, Rhode Island. The notion was to capture a 1920′s vibe, even though still seeming clean and contemporary. Being a Provi girl myself (Mayra and I went to Brown) I know the venue well and this perfectly captured the notions of both retro and romance, while giving a wink to the location with the playing card size. I also think that Green is the new “hotness” in color, so I love that as well.
It seems like such a shame that the breaking of the glass is such a bulk prom dresses crescendo inside a Jewish wedding ceremony, and then the pieces of glass are just, nicely, pieces of glass. I mustn’t have been the only one who felt that way because we found Mazel Tov Glass, the heirloom mazel tov glass. Founded by three friends who blew glass together for years, they designed the Mazel Tov glass last year as a gift for a wedding they were attending. The Mazel Tov glass comes as a small glass in a velvet pouch for the ceremony. After the ceremony, the pouch and the shards of glass are mailed back to Mazel Tov glass where they are blown into a beautiful vase. You can even select the shape. Pretty cool gift, I’d say.
